A clean environment is the basis for a healthy life. Keeping the environment clean for the protection of all creatures should be the primary responsibility of any society. In Europe alone, there are numerous laws, ordinances and administrative regulations describing the environmental conditions needed to ensure a certain environmental standard. Instrumental analysis is a useful tool to measure the status of environmental conditions, but also to monitor and optimize the technological processes. Instrumentation for the process control and process monitoring is a hidden, but important technology. Various sensors which are being developed for the more precise and efficient wastewater treatment process control and monitoring are nowadays available on the market [1]. Different principles of measurement are applied. One of the most widespread are the photometric or other optical methods and the potentiometric methods.
