The relationship of the GDP and ICT Spending and Investment: Analysis of data between 2006 and 2011 in the Czech Republic
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The ever-growing importance of corporate informatics has brought in, among others, new and alternative research opportunities in all sectors of the economy. ICT has changed the way we work with information, as well as a number of corporate processes and activities. The importance of ICT is increasing considerably, and can, at least partially, affect macroeconomic variables, and vice versa. The dynamic development of the economy has undoubtedly an effect on ICT spending and investment. The primary aim of this paper is to investigate the relationship between the GDP and ICT spending and investment in the Czech Republic. The secondary objective is to describe the factors that contributed to the observed trend. The data for the analysis were taken from the Czech Statistical Office, which collects all the necessary information. Using statistical analysis of a two-dimensional data set, I have calculated the correlation coefficient and found out that GDP has an impact on ICT spending and investment. The key factors that affect the amount of ICT spending include, besides the GDP indicator, in particular expenditure rationalization during strategic planning, and new trends that are further described in the conclusion of this paper.
