A Ping-Pong Self-Sustaining Avalanche in Ti-LGAD
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
This work is a continuation of our previous research on trench-isolated LGAD sensors that reveal exceptionally large, long-duration signals without external stimuli, so called “ghost signals”. Here, we extend the LGAD study to corresponding PIN sensors with the same inter-pixel isolation structure (double trench). In addition to previously studied sensors, we investigated new double-trenched LGADs where the gain layer was co-implanted with carbon. All studied LGADs exhibited spontaneous ghost signals above a certain threshold value of applied bias, whereas it was not observed in corresponding PINs. On the other hand, strong and broad signal was generated in the inter-pixel region of PINs using fs-laser illumination under specific parameters. We will discuss the hypotheses for the mechanism behind these signals. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to EDP Sciences, Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2025.
