The European snout beetle (Phyllobius oblongus) is a pest of broadleaf trees. Occasional overgrowth of the P. oblongus leads to necessary interventions especially in young fruit plantations and nurseries. Currently is used broad-spectrum insecticide chlorpyrifos-methyl (Reldan 22®) for the spring orchard protection, but it affect beneficial arthropods and residues remain in the fruits. For this reason, chlorpyrifos-methyl has been banned for orchards protection in a number of countries due to the implementation of EU pesticide legislation. Therefore, the aims of our study was to find alternative plant protection products, which will be sufficient effective against this pest. Our study showed a huge potential of the Spin Tor®, which meet the principles of organic farming and IPM. Therefore, we recommend this product for plant protection against European snout beetles to the young plantations. A great potential had also Siltac® EC which show an excellent digestive and also residual effect against this pest.
