Orchid mycorrhizal fungi as biological protection against cereal fungal pathogens
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Biological cropping systems are now being promoted. A number of mechanisms are being exploited, such as endophytic associations, which can protect plants against harmful organisms, improve their yield and quality, or provide special metabolites. There are a number of mechanisms by which endophytic organisms can act (mycoparasitism, antibiosis, commensalism, elicitation of defense responses...). Endophytic associations are also commonly formed by fungi, which are known from orchid mycorrhizal symbioses. In our experiments, only Ceratobasidium cereale and Microdochium bolleyi species were shown to achieve in vitro antagonism. Serendipita indica significantly reduced plant damage caused by Fusarium culmorum. Isolates of orchid mycorrhizal fungi exerted a moderate protective effect. It was also possible to successfully implement the microorganisms in the field environment. Association formation prior to pathogen emergence is also important. On-line presentation on „16th Student Days of Plant Biology CS 2021“ pořadatel „Czech Society of Experimental Plant Biology“ (September, 7.-8., 2021).
