The regulation of electronic payment services was first put into practice by Act no. 124/2002 Coll., on Transfers of funds, electronic means of payment and payment systems (the Payment Systems Act). This generally applicable legal norm introduced regulation of electronic payment services in the Czech legal system for the first time (even indirectly) and solved the protection of users of electronic payment services or the use of electronic means of payment, as appropriate. New legislation brought by Actno. 284/2009 Coll., on Payments, solves the protection of users rather differently. The article will deal with the analysis of the original legislation aimed at the protection of electronic payment services and its comparison with the current legislation, going over the expected changes that can bring the expected transposition of legislation.
