This article summarizes the research results gained from Integrated research centre for by-products exploitation from mining, adjustment and processing of energetic raw materials. Several utility models for artificial aggregate and dry mix mortar made from coal combustion products were registered to protect research results from this project. We have designed an artificial aggregate KABET that can be used as filler in lightweight concretes and concretes with open structure. Some basic mechanical and technological properties of the artificial aggregate were defined. Subsequently, several variations in the grain size composition for individual types of artificial aggregates for lightweight concrete were proposed in such a way that the grain-size distribution curves were laid in the acceptable range. The properties of individual types of lightweight concrete were determined e.g. strength properties. The aim of this study was also to investigate the possibilities for application of certain
