Fibre-cement compositesthat have significantly influenced global architecture
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The text focuses on asbestos-cement composites and glass fibre reinforced concrete. Asbestos-cement composites were widely used in the construction industry. Their use for construction has been banned in the Czech Republic since 1984. Currently, the aim is to identify these building materials as hazardous to human health and remediate them safely. The second group includes glass fibre reinforced concrete. Its massive use started with the development of prefabricated skeleton structures in the second half of the 20th century. They include elements used for exterior sheathing, roofing or various landscape architecture elements. Thanks to its durability, low basis weight, colouring ability and shape diversity, glass fibre reinforced concrete may properly replace natural materials. The usability and durability of this material can be well predicted on the basis of accelerated durability tests.
