Axenic cultivation of lipophilic yeast for biosurfactant production
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Biologically produced surface active compounds (biosurfactants) have a potential for application in clean-up technologies. This study deals with surfactants produced by lipophilic yeast with non-toxic and non-pathogenic status of organisms. The aim of the work was a preparation of the yeast biosurfactants intended for washing of matrices contaminated by non-aqueous phase liquids (NAPL). Production of biosurfactants was studied, including screening of suitable strains of yeasts for production, optimization of the cultivation process and after all, possibilities of application of the most promising biosurfactant, which should substitute synthetic agents currently used in the emulsification of NAPL contamination. Screening procedures enabled selection oftwo yeast strains, Yarrowia lipolytica and Candida bombicola. Optimization of cultivation process involved design of medium for production of biosurfactants as well as the cultivation conditions: pH, temperature, distribution of oxygen an
