The obtained results proved a positive effect of compost incorporation on the retention capacity of soil. In permanent grassland, significant differences were found out after the incorporation of the highest compost does. As compared with Varian 1, the incorporation of medium and higher doses of compost (i.e. 80 and 150 t.ha-1) increased the infiltration capacity both on permanent grassland and arable land. It can be concluded that the incorporation of organic matter into the soil increases its retention capacity so that it markedly improves the soil environment. It is important to apply only well-matured compost of good quality.
