In years 2011-2012, the effect of different tillage practices on quality changes in the topsoil layer was studied. The term soil quality refers to the ability of soil aggregates to resist dispersion. Changes of the structural coefficient were monitored as well. In these experiments, two methods of tillage were used, viz. conventional tillage and fallow. The locality was situated in a sugar-beet-growing region. Cultivated crops were fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) and winter wheat (Triticum aestivum). Results obtained within two years of studies on water stability of soil aggregates showed that there were statistically significant differences between tillage and fallow variants. In the variant with conventional tillage, reduced water stabilityof soil aggregates was observed. Values of the structural coefficient were lower as well.
