The Influence of fallow management on soil aggregate stability
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
In the years 2011-2016 the effect of different agronomy practices on changes in topsoil qualities of Chernozem was studied. Soil quality refers to the ability of soil aggregates to resist dispersion. Two soil tillage treatments were established – disc tillage and fallow. The locality is situated in the Mikulov district in a maize-growing region at an altitude of 350 m. The average annual temperature and precipitation was 9.6 °C and 524 mm, respectively. Local soils were characterized as medium-heavy Chernozem on loess. The crops grown successively on a cultivated plot were: winter barley, winter rape, winter wheat, maize, winter wheat and winter barley. Part of the experimental plot was left fallow with a spontaneous succession of vegetation (fully-grown weeds were cut only once a year). The results of the trial were statistically processed using multi-factorial analysis of variance and Tukey’s tests of simple contrasts. During six years of monitoring it was found that, with disc tillage, the water-stability of soil aggregates was lower in comparison with fallow management. The influence of depth and season was also found.
