A non-interventional way of managing abandoned fields in protected areas together with grassing using commercial seed mixtures has caused a decrease in biodiversity not only in plant species but also in insects. To restore the species diversity of short-term grasslands in the Podyjí National Park in the Czech Republic, we used ploughing as alternative disturbance management supporting colonisation by plants and invertebrates from the local species pool.
