Thermal dissipation analysis of transformer protective enclosure digital twin as a tool to energy efficiency sustainability
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Transformers play a crucial role in electric energy transmission and distribution. They enable the transmission of electrical energy with reduced losses from the generation area to the locations where the energy is consumed. Despite their overall high efficiency, a part of the energy is lost due to heat conversion. Those losses negatively affect the insulation system and therefore the overall transformer life cycle and performance. Cast resin transformers are operated in protective enclosures, which prevents water ingress to live parts and protects the surroundings from electric shock. The enclosure is even further negatively influencing the insulation system due to worse thermal dissipation. Therefore, for proper design of transformers the exact modelling of thermal behaviour is necessary. This paper summarises the first step of digital twin modelling of the transformer and enclosure coupled task. On one side the enclosure simplified model was manufactured and the ventilation and temperature dissipation for different protection classes of the ventilation openings were measured. On the other hand a computer model was prepared, and thermal dissipation was analysed using a CFD tool. The validation of the results from the simplified configuration is the basis for the further development of the digital twin, which is solved on the real configurations of the transformer and the enclosure.
