The aim of this paper is to point out the limits of tourism development, especially in connection with the protection of civil aviation security. The article presents the basic definitions related to security checks, their development and current situation where these checks are represented by a complex system consisting of layers of sub-activities that should restrict access to potentially dangerous persons to restricted parts of airports or on board of aircrafts. There are also discussed drawbacks of the current approach and a proposal of the project how to modernize the concept of security checks, with an emphasis on improving the reliability of security screeners and screening itself through behaviour detection of passengers is presented.
