Case Study on the Role of Non-State Military Actors in the 2011 Libyan Conflict
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Non-state military actors (i.e. private military companies, contractors and/or the militia) form an inherent part of the present global system. In many cases, however, the role and participation of non-state military actors appears to be rather ambiguousand unclear. In order to illustrate the activity of non-state military actors in the global system, I have decided to address the 2011 Libyan rebellion and to focus on the increasing sphere of influence of non-state military actors, especially contractors and private military companies, in the Dzamahirija region). More specifically, my study analyzes reasons and motives of non-state military actors in taking part in the rebellion. The time period covered in the study is divided into three phases: the pre-conflict, the conflict and the post-conflict phase. The analysis concentrates on the participation of particular types of non-state military actors and their activity in specific periods of time.
