Název v původním jazyce
On the Margin of the New World Stage. The reception of Václav Havel´s drama in North America.
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Václav Havel is not only perceived as an important politician and ideologist in the Anglophone world, but also as an influential artist and author of remarkable reflections on contemporary dramatic art and its influence in a broader social and cultural context. The forthcoming monograph will map the impact of Havel's drama and theater aesthetics specifically on the cultural context of contemporary Canada. He will not only follow the tradition and practice of staging Havel's dramas in Canadian theaters, their reflection and significance in the study programs of dramatic fields at Canadian universities, but also the possible adaptation influences of Havel's work on Canadian dramas and contemporary Canadian theater culture as a whole. It offers a view of Václav Havel's art link "from outside", taking into account the interpretations of his works and the artistic views of foreign authorities from the English world. Part of the publication will be an interview with leading Canadian experts on contemporary theater and Havel's work (Michal Schonberg, Alan Filewod, Barry Freeman).
