Experimental device for development and verification of methods for fuel inspections
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Given paper presents a brief description of a new experimental device that was designed and built to support CVR activities in the area of pool-side inspections of irradiated fuel assemblies at nuclear power plants during their refueling outages. The device serves as a basis to develop and validate methods as also to test tools used for the fuel inspections. Such device must fulfill basic requirements ensuring proper conditions during the testing as close as possible to real conditions at nuclear power plants. The testing environment is specified by parameters given by the coolant chemistry, temperature and neutron and gamma doses. The radiation resistance of the tools cannot be tested directly within the device, but for this purpose a research reactor can be additionally utilized. The experimental device allows testing all fuel assembly types consisting of fuel rods and other structural components being in mock-up state, i.e. without fuel pellets. It is also possible to model the behavior of the fuel assembly internals themselves like e.g. spacing grid alone.
