The paper describes the neutron beam spatial distribution determination performed by experimental measurement and transport calculation at the opening of the horizontal channel situated at the BNCT facility of the research reactor LVR-15. Both reactor and BNCT facility are operated by Research Centre Rez Ltd., Czech Republic. The BNCT facility was built in 1990s and was designed primarily for a research of boron neutron capture therapy, but it is routinely used as a source of neutrons for other purposes, nowadays. Therefore, the precise profile of neutron beam at different position and decrease of neutron beam intensity in dependency to distance from the beam center is important information to prepare valid measurement setup of future experiments. The measurement of neutron field was performed by a 3D positioning device with a 6Li conversion layer and silicon semiconductor detector Ortec BB-23-300-250. The calculation was done in transport code MCNP with prepared model of LVR-15’s reactor core. The comparison between measurement and calculation results showed that the epithermal beam has very high divergence. There were observed slight discrepancies in comparison of measured and calculated data but the results are generally in good agreement and confirmed usability of the MCNP code for the BNCT facility calculations.
