Non-destructive testing of reactor containment mock-up
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Four massive concrete blocks and one prestressed reinforced concrete block have been fabricated in Nuclear Research Institute UJV Rez near Prague. One of the concrete blocks was drilled by 3 holes of diameters 50, 100 and 150 mm to simulate voids or caverns which may occur in 1.2 meter thick wall of nuclear power plant (NPP) Temelin in Czechia. Reinforced concrete bock (No. 5) contains polyethylene ducts for prestressing steel wires and one-sided steel liner. Non-destructive testing methods as direct ultrasonic pulse method, ground penetrating radar, electro-magnetic induction or ultrasonic-echo method have been applied in those blocks in order to prove their ability to detect caverns, voids, cracks, prestressing steel ducts of reinforcement in containment building wall. Another two blocks have been fabricated in Prefa Kurim and transported to area of Brno University of Technology. Inserted artificial defects as honeycombs or badly compacted concrete has been localised be non-destructive testing methods impact-echo, georadar or direct ultrasonic pulse method.
