Current research activities in the field of materials and technologies for advanced helium-cooled reactors in the Czech Republic
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Research and other organisations in the Czech Republic are still involved in activities concerning material and technology research for advanced helium-cooled nuclear reactors – both very-high-temperature reactors (VHTR) and gas cooled fast reactors (GFR). These activities are supported within international programs and the national Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA CR). The larger project focused on sealing, helium purification and recovery systems was recently finished. Other activities are long-term and are focused on corrosion and resistance of materials in a high-temperature helium environment. Currently, special nickel-based alloys and ceramic materials are tested in a helium atmosphere at temperatures up to 900°C; the exposure in the simulated environment lasts up to 3000 hours. The activities and projects are introduced and selected results presented in the conference paper. Presented at HTR konference 2024 - The 11th International topical meeting on High Temperature Reactor Technology.
