Collection of Replicas to Evaluate the Structural Condition of Steel after Thermal Ageing
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
This article aims to introduce the method of replica sampling and its application in the structural monitoring of steels used in VVER 440 and VVER 1000 type NPPs. For the experiment, samples were created by extracting a part of the primary circulation pipe made of austenitic steel 08Ch18N12T. In total, four conditions were evaluated, namely the initial condition (the part of the pipeline that was not in use), a sample taken after 28 years of operation at the Jaslovské Bohunice V1 NPP, and samples of these conditions after their thermal aging at 450 °C in an atmospheric furnace. The exposure time was set to simulate the extended operation of the component for 60 years (Note: 1 year of operation means 10 months of 100% of power, 2 months in outage). The purpose of the analyses performed was to assess the structural condition of the samples in terms of changes of grain sizes, and the representation of structural phases. A subtask was then used to assess the ability of the replication materials and films to convey this information about the microstructure of the material. Documentation of the microstructure and verification of replicas were carried out by light and scanning electron microscopy.
