The objective of this study was to examine the effect of inbreeding depression on age at first calving (in days) in holstein cows. The data included holstein cows (173,000) calved in the years 1995-2006 at farms in the Czech Republic. For proper comparison each inbred cow was assigned to at least one outbred equal (811 equals in sum). Inbred cows were matched with their outbred equals.Inbred cows and their matched outbred equals were subsequently divided according to the inbreeding coefficient of inbredcows into four groups (Fx=1.25%; Fx=12.5%; Fx=25% and all animals).
