The objective of this paper is to compare expenditure on regional administration activities (i.e. expenditure of Section 6172 of the sectoral classification of budget composition) reported by individual regions of the Czech Republic in 2005 - 2014, taking into account their area and population. The paper aims to identify any disparities in the public administration performance efficiency at the level of higher territorial self-governing units and to point out specific ways of assessing public administration performance, currently being viewed as one of the significant weaknesses of the Czech Republic. The necessary data have been collected from publicly accessible sources, particularly the websites of the Czech Statistical Office, Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic, and individual regions. Various procedures relying on the DEA model (Data Envelopment Analysis) have been used for the purpose of data processing. The results confirm not only the initial hypothesis consisting in the
