Volume No. 9 of complete bilingual (English and Czech) Bohuslav Martinu Complete Edition contains critical edition of Piano Concerto No. 4 and Piano Concerto No.5 of Bohuslav Martinů. Incantation. Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 4, H 358 (1956), has an unusual two movement form. Martinů wrote it for his friend Rudolf Firkušný, that perormed the work often from his own reproduction of autograph until 1970., when the Concerto was published for the first time. Following and the very last work for the solo instrument with orchestra of Martinů Fantasia Concertante. Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in B-flat, H 366, commissioned Swiss pianist Margrit Weber and zhe Concerto with its three movement structure and musical language do not follow the Incantation. As opposite to Incantation Martinů also was strongly involved of preparation of the first publising in 1959. The critical edition brings in the foreword in a form of a detailed study grat amount of the new informations about genesis of both works, early performance practice and the sources. As a part of the book is in form of facsimile publihed complete draft of the Fantasia concertane and also important Critical Report which is collecting and assessing all relevant musical and non-musical sources in a detail.
