This work is dealing with the antibacterial modification of membranes for electromembrane processes. We can use several options to provide antibacterial properties of the membrane. Either we can antibacterially modify used a polymer, an ion exchange resin or a reinforcing fabric. Two ways were chosen for this work, namely the modification of the polymer by the additive and the application of the antibacterial nanolayer on the reinforcing fabric. It was decided to use two ways of modifying the membranes. The first method was to add the additive from company Sanitized directly to the polymer matrix. Polyethylene was melted on Polylab and the additive was gradually fed into it. The mixture was thoroughly blended. The second method was to apply a layer of chitosan nanofibres to the reinforcing fabric. The modified fabric was used to strengthen the membrane. Chitosan fibers and nanofibers show antibacterial effects and, due to their properties, are also used in medicine.
