    Diffusion dialysis (DD) belongs to group of membrane separation techniques where polymeric ion-exchange membranes are used. DD is suitable for recovery of acids or alkalis from solution containing corresponding salts over anion-exchange membranes (AEM) and cation-exchange membranes (CEM), respectively. It is process driven by concentration gradient and runs under atmospheric pressure and no energy inputs are needed. It has low installation and operation cost and it is environmentally friendly. On the other hand, the limitation of this techniques is low efficiency and the final concentration of desired solution is limited by the equilibrium. In the past there has been written number of studies dealing with DD, i.e. recovery of acids from HCl + FeCl2 solution, H2SO4 + Na2SO4 solution or HNO3 from Li+, Na+, Mg2+ and Ca2+ salts. The process is suitable for waste solution from the galvanization process, aluminium etching, non-ferous metal smelting or titanium white waste liquor etc. In this work we focus on the DD process of acid and corresponding salt solutions and the effect of solution composition, concentration of anion was kept constant. Membrane used in the experiment was in the form of hollow fiber. Experiments were carried out in cross-flow setup and the flows of water (diffusate) and feed (dialysate) was 100 and 200 cm3.h-1. Results of the experiments show that the AEM membrane in the form of hollow fiber is suitable for DD. Flows of diffusate and dialysate strongly affect the performance of the membrane in the meaning of yield of acid and rejection of metal ions. Lower flows of liquids show higher yield of acid in all concentration range whereas the rejection is slightly worse. With increasing metal loading in the feed, the yield of acid increases, whereas the metal rejection decreases.
