Semi-industrial validation of combined membrane purification technology of municipal landfill leachates with biological pre-treatment.
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Purification of municipal landfill leachates is a difficult question for which there is no general answer due to their diversity and possible evolution with time. The main goal of this work was validation of semi – industrial combined membrane purification technology, represented by pressure (reverse osmosis) and electromembrane processes (electrodialysis reversal). A Batch mode was used for electrodialysis. The electrodialysis was used to ensure the lower salinity in the treated solution. Diluate was used as a feed for reverse osmosis. Concentrate was stored in the landfill. A massive fouling and colouring of the ion exchange membranes surface was observed. The mass flux decreased by 28% after four experiments and cleaning in place was worked as desired. A Batch mode was used for reverse osmosis to achieve the maximum rejection. The final rejection was reached on the level below 85%. The flux was decreased during performance relative to water composition from 26.2 to 14.6 l.m-2.h-1. Due to the results, the semi-industrial validation of combined membrane purification technology was strongly affected by the quality of the inlet water. Therefore, another pre-treatment (ultrafiltration) is recommended to be able to remove organic compounds.
