Der Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit der Stellung der deutschen Sprache in der tschechischen Gesellchaft zwischen den beiden Weltkrigen. Es werden der Wandel des Deutschunterrichts in den Lehrplänen, die pädagogischen und politischen Debatten analysiert, wobei die politische Ebene als die bedeutendste erscheint. Es wird gezeigt, dass die Bedeutung der traditionellen Landessprache seit den früheren 1920er Jahren kontinuierlich anstieg, was man als ein Signal zur Integration der deutschsprachigen Bevölkerunginterpretieren könnte.

The article deals with the German language in the Czech society of the first Czechoslovak Republic. It analyses the change of the German language in the curricula of Czechoslovak grammar schools. This problem is not seen only as a pedagogical question but also as a cultural and political issue. The role of the German language was growing up between the earlier 1920s and late 1930s, which points at the efforts towards integration of the German people within the Czechoslovak republic.
