Dass auch ein Fluss eine interessante Geschichte schreiben kann, möchte der vorliegende Beitrag am Beispiel der Erinnerungen des tschechoslowakischen Politikers und Justiz-, Landwirtschafts- und Finanzministers JUDr. Ladislav Karel Feierabend und eines Nachkommen eines Binnenschiffers Josef Novák vorstellen. Die Tschechoslowakei befindet sich zwei Jahre nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg unter einem sehr starken Druck der UdSSR. Eine immer stärkere Rolle in der Politik spielt die kommunistische Partei. Präsident Edward Beneš verliert immer mehr an seinen Kompetenzen. Mit dem Umsturz im Februar 1948 wird die Machtübernahme der kommunistischen Partei in der Tschechoslowakei vollendet. Hohe demokratische Politiker der traditionellen Parteien werden zuerst unauffällig verfolgt, bald kommt es aber zu politischen Prozessen. Einige treffen die einzig gebliebene Entscheidung, das Land illegal zu verlassen und versuchen, demokratische Gedanken aus dem Ausland durchzusetzen. Welche Rolle könnte hier der Fluss spielen? Der Beitrag setzt sich zum Ziel den tschechisch-deutschen Fluss im Rahmen der spatial turn Theorie im historischen und interkulturellen Kontext zu betrachten.

The following article, written on the memories of a Czechoslovak politician, Attorney General, Minister of Finance and Minister of Agriculture Ladislav Karel Feierabend, LLD, and a descendant of a boatman on inland waters Josef Novak, is the show that also a river can write and tell interesting stories. Only two years after the Word War Two, Czechoslovakia is under a strong pressure of USSR. The Communist Party is more and more relevant and stronger. The president Edvard Benes loses his influence. With the putsch in February 1948, the Communist Party finishes with the take-over of the political power in the republic. Prominences from remaining democratic parties are chased and persecuted. Some of them comes to the only relevant solution - escape from the country even illegally and advocate democratic thoughts from abroad. And what role can a river play there? The article aims to introduce the Czech-German river Elbe using Spatial Turn theory in the historical and intercultural context.
