Görlitzer Stadtrechnungen, überliefert mit einigen Lücken ab 1377, stellen eine wichtige Quelle für die Untersuchung von Görlitz in der Rolle eines Kommunikationszentrums dar. In den Rechnungen hat man nämlich auch die Ausgaben für städtische Boten erfasst: wohin, zu wem und aus welchem Grund reisten. Die Einträge ermöglichen ein plastisches Bild zu skizzieren: nicht nur, was den geographischen Rahmen der Görlitzer Kommunikation anbelangt (am intensivsten war sie in die unmittelbare Umgebung, sowie nach Böhmen und Schlesien gerichtet), aber auch die Tatsache, auf welche Weiße der Herzog die Görlitzer Boten ausnutzen konnte.

The municipal accounts of Görlitz (Görlitzer Stadtrechungen) preserved with gaps from 1377 are the very important source for the recognition of the role of Görlitz as a communication centre. Expenditures on city messengers were also recorded in the accounts, including data on where they were going, for whom and sometimes also for what reason. These records thus make it possible to give a very plastic picture not only of the geographical network of the Görlitz communication (it was most intense towards the immediate vicinity, but also to Bohemia and Silesia), but also of the way how the Duke himself could use Görlitz messengers.
