The contribution informs about two main objectives of a project aimed at teaching of foreign languages at pedagogic faculties (PFs), funded by the Czech Ministry of Education and carried out by the Centre o Languages of PF UJEP in 1998 - 1999. It shows some outcomes of a research that became a basis for the model of the requirements of the language competence of the PF student, and of the curriculum of foreign languages recommended to PFs.
