The second half of the 90s brought the increase in birthrate from 9.3 per thousand to 10.8 per thousand. Two of the three towns in the Usti district ( Trmice and Chabarovice ) are among those with the highest birth rate in the country. They are former city neighbourhoods of Usti nad Labem. Usti city had a birthrate of 10.5 per thousand in the year 2000 - well above the rate of 8.8 per thousand for cities of 50,000 - 99,0000 inhabitants. The educational profile of women giving birth has become higher, more having secondary and university education of mothers. The increase of birth rate reflected the increase of first born children to mothers in the 25-29 age group This confirms the trend of the 70s. Women giving birth in Chabarovice and Trmice have acompletely different educational profile compared to those in the town and district of Usti nad Labem - the mothers with basic and secondary school education not completed by final exams predominate.
