The paper compares participation of women in science and education in the Czech Republic, exploiting the data published by Czech Statistics Office, Ministry of Education and Sociological Institute of Academy of Sciences. It comes out of the original presumption that a growing number of female students at universities should lead to a greater participation of women in research and tertiary education sector. In spite of that, the statistical data reveal opposite situation and present a significant gender pay gap between these two groups. The author explains components of teacher's salary and endeavour to identify reasons for it.
