Local governments are facing new challenges and need to find ways to address current transport issues within their planning scope and local conditions. Sustainable urban mobility plans should help cities to build a quality transport system that is sustainable and to base their planning on an integrated and multidisciplinary approach; they represent the main strategic documents of cities in the field of transport development. One of the fundamental principles of these plans is high-quality monitoring and evaluation, which are essential for further planning and decision-making.The monograph presents the results of project no. TL01000462 &quot;Strategic tools to support municipal decision-making in the field of sustainable mobility&quot; supported by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic.This publication builds on the research results regarding the situation in urban mobility planning and evaluation in the Czech Republic. The book is grounded in current Czech practice and intends to advance it by helping key stakeholders understand the benefits of better planning processes. It aims to reveal and explain the advantages, principles, methods and specifics of evaluation of transport measures and strategies in urban mobility. The book focuses on identifying key links between planning and assessment of transport measures and strategies in urban mobility on the one hand, and the main procedures and proven methods for monitoring and evaluating sustainable mobility on the other hand. It introduces requirements for evaluation of strategic documents, such as sustainable urban mobility plans, and enlightens readers on how to implement high-quality and systematic evaluation of transport measures at the local and regional levels. Evaluation is considered one of the cornerstones of sustainable mobility and its planning, so we pay attention to the definition of sustainable mobility and new trends, challenges and approaches in modern strategic urban mobility planning.The book intends to be a comprehensive information source on evaluation for various actors in the urban mobility arena, as well as academicians and students with an interest in urban mobility.
