Disparities in the Healthcare among Vulnerable Population in the Czech Republic

  • Popis výsledku v původním jazyce

Introduction: Disparities in health care among vulnerable populations, such as low-income individuals, racial or ethnic minorities, older people, or those with disabilities, remain problematic across locations andhealth systems. By identifying the needs of these individuals, an increase in economic protectionand a reduction of some barriers to the provision of health care can be achieved. Disparities are ofteninfluenced by social determinants of health, economic factors, geographic location, and structural barriers.Aim: To identify the vulnerable population in the Czech Republic, their needs, and healthcare facilities thatcan care for all their needs.Method: We used theoretical analysis from the Web of Science to identify the characteristics of thevulnerable population and we applied the knowledge in the Czech practice. The next step will be to measuregeneral and specific needs and check the healthcare facilities if they can cover the selected areas. Results: Results show, we have ten groups of vulnerable people in the Czech Republic. The typical Czechvulnerable groups are Elderly individuals, children and young people, persons with a chronic illnessor disability, immigrants, the 2SLGBTQ+ community, etc. Each group has specific needs which we wantto analyze and recommend possible solution for medical practice. Conclusion: The study identified ten groups of vulnerable people that we can meet also in the CzechRepublic. Based on this new terminology we analyzed the specific and general needs of each group andsearched for healthcare facilities that can cover them. The study is still in progress.
