The past several decades witnessed the proof that the environment and its resources are important not only for economic welfare, but that they are much more important as life-supporting ecosystems. Growing transport possibilities make life easier, on theother side transporting networks and means are becoming one of the most environmentally damaging sector of globalised world. It even seems that uncontrolled fossil fuel based transport development is an influential driver of growing negative impacts ofglobalization and the driver of unsustainability of market economic systems. Paper analyses the development of transport in the CR and explains how useful can be the biotope valuation method in mitigating the contradictions among economic and environmental aspects in all activities that need some land use.
