Characteristics of semi-coke prepared from the various brown coals and their use for industrial process

The main objective of this research work was to obtain some basic characteristic of semi-coke, prepared from various types of brown coal from the Nort Bohemian basin. During the research, several semi-cokes were prepared under given conditions. They weretested for the main charakteristics, important for their use in the various industrial purposes, mainly in the metallurgy and for the enviromental use. Brown coals were analysed for their basic parameters. The coal was pyrolysed under defined conditions, during the pyrolysis composition of the gas was determined by the gas chromatography and its volume was measured. Obtained semi-coke was analysed and then activated by the water vapor in the high temperature. Dependance of the time of activation to thespecific surface was discovered. Results of all obtained analyses from semi-cokes were compared regarding to the intended use of those products. Some chosen products were tested as a metallurgic carburizer and as a sorbent for the waste
