Research vs. practice: An international review of challenges and opportunities in development and use of crash prediction models
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
(presented at 2017 Australasian Road Safety Conference, Perth, 10. – 12. 10. 2017) Over the past ten years, crash prediction models (CPMs) have become the fundamental scientific tools of road safety management. However, there is a gap between state-of-the-art and state-of-the-practice, with the practical applications lagging behind scientific progress. This motivated the review of international experience with CPMs from the practitioner perspective: how and why should they consider using CPMs? Findings indicate that developing and using CPMs has its challenges. However, these may be minimised by increased communication between researchers (who develop CPMs) and agencies (who use CPMs), resulting in easy-to-use and transparent tools, which will also enable calibrating the CPMs to local conditions.
