The paper describes a method of determination of gaseous impurities (H2, O2, N2, CO, CH4, CO2) in high purity helium and methods of gaseous impurities removal. The device used for the determination was Master GC type gas chromatograph with helium detection unit and ShinCarbon ST column. The obtained limits of detection defined as three times the standard deviation of background value of tested components are H2 0.000 03 % Vol., O2 0.000 04 % Vol., N2 0.000 02 % Vol., CO 0.000 2 % Vol., CH4 0.000 3 % Vol., CO2 0.000 2 % Vol. Analysis time less than 20 min. Within the scope of proposal of helium purification system efficiency of removing of selected impurities (CO, CO2, CH4) on adsorbents based on zeolites and active carbon was tested. Laboratory scale apparatus and FTIR spectrometer were used for experiments. Presented at 5th International Conference on High Temperature Reactor Technology HTR 2010, Praha, 18.10. 2010.
