FORGE - Fate of repository gases generation and migration of hydrogen in deep geological repositories
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Poster at EURADWASTE ?13, Vilnius, Lithuania. Co-organised by the European Commission and the Lithuanian EU Presidency 2013 8th EC Conference on the Management of Radioactive Waste Community Policy and Research on Disposal. In deep geological repositories of radioactive waste the gas is generated either from degradation of waste, metal waste canisters, other metal engineered barriers or radiolysis of water. The pressure of generated gas can affect the safety properties of the barriers and can consequently influenced the time and the rate of radionuclide penetration from the repository to the environment. The Czech concept of deep geological repository is based on the steel canister surrounded by Czech bentonite in granitic host rock. Therefore the mainaim of ÚJV research work in the framework of FORGE 7th FM EC was focused on hydrogen generation from carbon steel corrosion and on migration of hydrogen through compacted bentonite.
