Risk-oriented Decision Making in Operation of Czech NPPs – History, Current Status and Challenges
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The article deals with probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) of nuclear power plants operation in Czech Republic – the history of it, current status of the methodology and development of PSA models and with using PSA models and results in support of risk-oriented decision making. Following brief introduction, the article discusses the impact of PSA on the processes related to NPP safety, the role of PSA team in the development and applications of PSA model (with specific focus put on the activities and projects with PSA team in ÚJV Řež involved), Czech standards and guides for PSA issued by Czech regulatory body (SÚJB), last methodical developments made in PSA worldwide, broad spectrum of PSA applications in Czech Republic and, last but not least, the recently identified challenges in the PSA methods and data reducing the potential for fully using PSA. The goal of the article is to draw a picture providing evidence about broad spectrum of possibilities in applying PSA nowadays and in the future in keeping and increasing safety level of operation of complex advanced technologies working on measurable risk level. A more concrete numerical information about the risk of NPP operation in Czech Republic can be found in the references
