Synergistic Extraction of Some Divalent Metal Cations into Nitrobenzene by Using Sodium Ionphore I and Lithium Ionophore VIII
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Extraction of divalent metal cations into nitrobenzene using the nonionic ionophores sodium ionophore I (N,N ',N ''-Triheptyl-N,N ',N ''-trimethyl-4,4 ',4 ''-propylidynetris(3-oxabutyramide) and lithium ionophore VIII (N,N,N ',N ',N '',N ''-Hexacyclohexyl-4,4 ',4 ''-propylidynetris(3-oxabutyramide) has been investigated. From extraction experiments and gamma-activity measurements, the extraction constants corresponding to the equilibria Sr2+(aq) + 2pic(-)(aq) + L(nb) double left right arrow SrL (2+)(nb) + 2pic(-)(nb) and M2+(aq) + SrL2+(nb) double left right arrow ML2+(nb) + Sr2+(aq) taking place in the two - phase water - nitrobenzene system (M2+ = Mg2+, Ca2+, Ba2+, Pb2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Cd2+, Mn2+, Co2+, Ni2+, and UO22+; L = sodium ionophore I and lithium ionophore VIII; pic(-) = picrate; aq = aqueous phase, nb = nitrobenzene phase) were evaluated. Furthermore, the stability constants of the ML2+ complexes in nitrobenzene saturated with water were calculated. They were found to increase in the following cation order Ba2+ < Ni2+ < UO22+ < Sr2+ < Cu2+ < Mg2+ < Co2+ < Mn2+ < Cd2+ < Pb2+ < Ca2+ < Zn2+ (Sodium ionophore I) and Mg2+ < Sr2+ approximate to UO22+ < Mn2+ < Ba2+ < Ni2+ < Pb2+ < Co2+ < Ca2+ < Cu2+ < Cd2+ < Zn2+ (Lithium ionophore VIII). These stability constants are very high, much higher than that of ionophores that do not contain the nitrogen atoms in their molecules. So, these ionophores are the receptors not only for univalent cations Na+ and Li+, but also the strong receptors for the divalent metal cations.
