Natural oils as reagent for chemical recycling of plastic waste
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
In spite of numerous ways of chemical recycling of plastic waste, only a very limited number have been used in industrial scale. The reasons for this phenomenon are quality problems, economy of the process and the environmental balance of the process incomparison to the production of virgin polyols. Due to these economical (the rising price of a crude oil) and environmental (the reduction of crude oil reserves) aspects, we have tried to develop new low-energetic recycling method, in which renewable agents instead of petrochemical ones were used for polymer decomposition. The aim of our study was to evaluate natural oils and natural-oil based polyols as new renewable reagents for chemical recycling of waste plastics. Polyurethane and polyethylene terephthalate wastes, which contain urethane and ester groups, respectively, enabling to react with hydroxyl groups of the reagent, were selected as suitable waste for this chemolysis method. The both tested waste materials were successfully d
