The topic of this article is reverse engineering. The importance and methodology of this technology is theoretically described here, which is subsequently demonstrated on the practical procedure of using reverse engineering for the reconstruction of a part of a broken metal cover. The article contains the methodology of 3D scanning, modification of scanned data, 3D printing of components and its subsequent comparison with the original.
