Finite element model of laminate made of functionally-oriented fabrics
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Functionally-oriented fabric (FOF) is a special reinforcement type. Fibres of basic and functional material are irregularly distributed in warp and weft. That locally improves mechanical performance and raises material usage efficiency. This type of fabric is suitable for a high volume manufacturing of large laminated parts. Basic material can be cheap fibres. Functional material can be purposefully weaved where it is needed, like around the future notches. That can reduce final waste and cost. Creating finite element model of laminate made of FOF is very complex as two materials with different mechanical properties are combined together in woven structure. The UD damage model, which is derived from Ladeveze’s model, is chosen for describing the damage of laminate. Woven fabric is substituted by UD plies. Tensile test on specimen with circular notch is simulated with progressive failure analysis to map the evolution of damage.
