Knowledge about the final weld pool geometry is important not only from the design or technological point of view but also from the utilization at numerical simulations. Main problems are caused firstly by fact that all quantities having influence on thefinal weld pool geometry are mutually connected and have an influence on each other. So it is difficult to monitor influence of just one welding parameter. The aim of this article is to reveal pre-heat temperature influence on the final weld pool geometry during MAG welding. There is group of 69 welds which are experimentally produced under different pre-heat temperature and the main emphasis is put on finding pre-heat temperature influence on welding parameters, weld pool geometry and on final deformation of weldment. Measured dependences are possible to use both at common design and technological praxis (weld joint proposal, WPS) and at numerical simulations during heat source model optimization.
