This article deals with analysing and evaluating the ability to use gas fuels: Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Natural Gas (Compressed Natural gas CNG and Liquefied Natural Gas LNG) for gasoline engines and diesel engines. Besides, the article also summarises some results on the development of gas fuel engines in Vietnamese universities. The studies in Vietnam focused on the engine used in the form of CNG and LPG fuel, as well as CNG/Diesel a LPG/Diesel dual fuel. Besides, the article describes the current state of application of the LPG and CNG gases fuel for vehicles in Vietnam. Finally, a proposal the increase of the number of gas engine vehicles in Vietnam, which is limited by the current low number of LPG and CNG filling stations is presented.
