This paper will deal with the comparison of the protection of the intellectual property in the Czech Republic ? in the European Union. In the present circumstances of the increasing economic competition and growing globalization, the intellectual property of the company becomes a key factor which can affect and often even determines the success or failure of the business. As a result of the unflaggin efforts of the producers to innovate and to become better than their competitors, there is practically aworldwide constant glut of the new technical solutions and procedures, the new design and new brands of products in the market. Therefore, timely and well chosen protection of the intellectual property is nowadays necessary for any successful company inany country. A properly determined system of the protection of intellectual property also allows the firms to make the best of and good use of the energy and new ideas of their employees in a long-term.
