APPLICATIONS OF PLASMA TREATMENT OF RECYCLED CARBON FIBRES
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
To improve the mechanical properties of the epoxy resin, short recycled carbon fibers with a length of 100 [tin were used as a filler in this study. To improve the compatibility of the recycled fibers with the epoxy matrix, a plasma treatment was used as the surface treatment of the carbon fibers. Surface functionalization was by XPS analysis, SEM and WCA. For comparison, composite samples filled with recycled carbon fibers with and without plasma treatment were prepared at low concentrations (1 wt% and 2.5 wt%) and high concentrations (20 wt% and 30 wt%) by weight ratio. Mechanical properties were analyzed on these samples. Improved impact strength, increased modulus of elasticity, and improved flexural stress occurred in composite samples with a low concentration (1 wt%) of plasma-treated fibers compared to samples with untreated fibers. At higher fiber concentrations, the plasma treatment worsened the mechanical properties of the composite samples compared to the samples with untreated fibers. However, there was a slight reduction in the variance of measured values quantities in the samples filled with plasma-treated fibers for all types of measurements.
